NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS
UP TO 90 DAYS
ECUADOR WELCOMES TOURISTS & TRAVELERS WITHOUT A VISA FROM MOST COUNTRIES (*) FOR UP TO 90 DAYS.
(*) Except for citizens of the following countries, who must seek the Visa 12-X for up to 90 days in Ecuador: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, People's Republic of China, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan and Somalia.

NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS
FOR MORE THAN 90-DAYS
All foreigners planning to stay in Ecuador for more than 90 days, must apply for a visa.
Visa 12-IX Tourism: For any tourist planning to stay longer than 90 days, the following documents must be presented:
*** ATTENTION: Any volunteer work, under any period of time in Ecuador (even if
combined with studies and/or tourism), must acquire the Visa 12-VII, and be
requested through a registered Euadorian volunteer
organization. No volunteer work is allowed under the Tourist Visa
12-IX, shown above.
Students, Business & Marriage:
For studies, turism & business up to six months, the 12-IX visa is valid for up to 6 months. Also, foreigners who wish to get married in Ecuador must apply for this visa. This visa may not be renewed. Present the following documents:
Visa 12-V For students up to one year:
Visa 12-VIII For students and teachers appointed to cultural exchange programs:
Visa 12-VI Working visa for professionals, technicians, consultants, legal representatives, government officials: Please contact the Ecuadorian Consulate for further information
Visa 12-VII: Clergy, volunteer workers, and other members of religious organizations:
*** ATTENTION: Any volunteer work, under any period of time in Ecuador (even if combined with studies and/or tourism), must be requested by a registered Euadorian volunteer organization, in order for the volunteer worker to acquire the Visa 12-VII.
. ** "VISA DE AMPARO" is granted to the spouse and/or dependants, traveling with the main holder of any visa listed above, between 12-V and 12-IX. USD $80.00 (50 Visa de Amparo, 30 application form)
Visa 12-X / 90 Days For citizens of Afganistán, Bangladesh, People's Republic of China, Eritrea, Etiopía, Kenia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistán and Somalia. The following documents must be presented for a personal interview at the Consulate of Ecuador:

10-I Retirees / Pensioners
Real estate, securities and fiduciary investors.
Investors in agriculture, livestock, commerce and other industries.
Legal representatives or contracted technicians representing foreign companies in Ecuador.
Professionals with university degrees recognized by a national university. Should the applicant's profession not exist in Ecuador, the degree must be locally certified.
Spouses or blood related family member (second consanguinity degree) or foreign citizens holding a different category of immigrant visa in Ecuador.
Legal activities not mentioned in the above categories.

PRIVATE VESSELS
Implementing Regulations for the granting of permits to foreign vessels to visit the territorial sea, coasts, and islands of the Galapagos Archipelago for cultural and tourist purposes.
Any foreign vessel wishing to visit the territorial sea of Ecuador, its coasts, or its islands for scientific, cultural or tourism purposes, or for any other purpose, shall obtain the appropriate written authorization from the Ministry of National Defense – General Department of Maritime Affairs (DIGEIM - Dirección General de Intereses Marítimos).
To obtain the authorization mentioned in the foregoing paragraph, the operators, owners, or captains of the vessel shall submit a written application (in Spanish) directly to the Ministry of National Defense or through the Embassies of Ecuador overseas, at least 60 days prior to the date indicated for the departure of the vessel.
Cultural and Tourist Visits by Foreign Vessel
Operators, owners, or captains of foreign vessels who wish to visit for the purpose of tourism shall attach the following documentation and information to the respective application:
(a) Characteristics of the vessel; - Name of the vessel - Vessel flag - Registration number - Length in meters - Width in meters - Depth in meters - Gross Tonnage - Color - Propulsion, motor or sail (b) Names of the captain and crew; (copies of the passports) (c) Place and date of departure and arrival; (d) Duration of the voyage; (e) Description of the nature of the expedition; (f) Itinerary of the voyage and list of the activities to be performed; (g) Names of the sponsors of the voyage, whether Ecuadorean or foreign, and their mailing addresses; (h) List of participants in the expedition; (i) Letters guaranteeing the embarkation of a representative or representatives of the Ecuadorean Navy, National Tourism Office or other national agencies, as necessary. Their expenses for travel, stay on board and other expenses shall be paid for by the applicant; (j) An agreement to send the results of the excursion to the National Tourism Office; and, (k) An express agreement to observe the rules of conservation of national parks and natural species declared as part of the national reserve and to pay for any damages that may be caused.
In the case of visits for cultural purposes, sponsorship by the appropriate foreign government shall be required in addition to the other requirements set forth in the foregoing article. Once the Ministry of National Defense receives the application for authorization, prior approval from the General Naval Headquarters, and proof that the relevant requirements have been met, the decision granting or rejecting the authorization requested shall be issued as necessary.
The Captain of the Vessel must inform the date of arrival and go to the office of the Galapagos National Park (INGALA) to register and pay the corresponding fees.The most important tourist agencies in Ecuador can also help the tourists to obtain the corresponding permits to visit the territorial sea of Ecuador, its coasts, or its islands for tourism purposes.
